Keep scrolling to see what we have already planned for 2024! | Yours unconditionally, The UBIE Core Group | 2024 will be a pivotal year for the European Union: In June, voters in 27 countries will go to the polls to elect their representatives to the European Parliament. The outcome of the vote will also influence who will be the next person to lead the European Commission for the next five years. How people vote and who is elected will have a strong impact on whether we can expect the EU to move towards a Basic Income more slowly or more quickly than it has done so far. That is why UBIE wants to start a broad movement across Europe where citizens ask candidates about their attitudes towards UBI and related policies. The answers can help voters decide which candidate to support in the elections. As a first step, we have started collecting questions for the candidates on our website - add yours now! | Local pilots study day in April On 11 April 2024, UBIE and its partners will bring together decision-makers from European municipalities in Barcelona to discuss opportunities for local basic income experiments, such as the Renda Bàsica Universal (RBU) programme in Catalonia. This will be followed by a two-day creative meeting to discuss how we can support decision-makers across Europe who are interested in starting similar pilots.
