By Bob Warren Mask Mandate: Been wearing that mask? (Hint: we’re still under a state mask order.) Anyway, Gov. John Bel Edwards has a news conference this afternoon and is expected to announce whether he'll extend the indoor mask mandate. If he does away with the mask rule, what then? Some experts weighed in. Hanging on: The folks who run restaurants across the region flip the lights on each morning wondering what the day ahead will bring. First, it was the pandemic. Then, Hurricane Ida. It’s a tough business, and lately it's been even tougher. Ian McNulty reports that many in one of New Orleans' signature industries labor each day just hoping to make enough money to stay afloat. Slow going: In the seven weeks since Hurricane Ida tore across south Louisiana, some of the hardest-hit communities have struggled to pick themselves up off the mat. Count Manchac and Bayou Segnette among them. In those places, storm recovery seems a long way off. Surviving in Seattle: It wasn’t easy, but the Saints left Seattle with a much-needed win Monday night. Hardly a thing of beauty, Jeff Duncan writes.
