In fact, it is a report from this day in 1994 when bushfires were raging across the South Coast. NSW Bushfires Services commissioner Phil Koperberg said that it was the worst bushfire emergency in 50 years, with firefighters working through the night in Malua Bay, Lilli Pilli, Surf Beach and Batehaven.
