Today's Featured PostTSA Approved Thread Cutter for In-flight Crafting
By R Barbara
I was scheduled to make a short flight last month. I wanted to bring my current quilt block project along in case I had time to work on one. One of the options found on the internet was using the cutter in a dental floss box. It works great and fits neatly into the Altoids tin I had for the paper pieced hexagons, thread, thimble, etc.

Teddy bears, dolls, and toys in general, especially the accessories, can get pricey. Instead, you can make "some" accessories out of construction paper like this spider hat.

I bought all the supplies on Amazon.com, the wax, the wicks, a color kit, and a scented oil kit. Then I began making candles out of old empty jars, and then found old antique teacups and saucers. These make wonderful keepsake treasures and special gifts. And it is very easy, but requires "caution" when working with hot, melted wax.

Do you have left over plastic eggs from Easter? You can turn them into cute bath toys! My daughter loves baby shark so this was perfect. This is an incredibly simple, easy to make toy with supplies you probably already have at home.

Submarine Craft and Experiment
By 15mhhm15
This is a free and fun craft/experiment that my toddler son really enjoyed! He made an experiment out of this by seeing how many coins it takes for the submarine to sink (it was a trial and error experiment).

I'm not a professional baker or cake decorator, but I do love making personalized desserts for my friends and family. I made this cake for my band bassist who adores collecting vinyl records (and playing them on his turntable all day). I've made it so the tunearm can be moved on and off the record, while staying 100% edible.

Today was the day before Easter and the store was out of Peeps, of course. I got a big bag of marshmallows instead and used some ingredients on hand to make these to cheer up my dad. (He really, really, likes his Peeps.)

Oil and Food Colouring Marble Art
By attosa
This is a fun way to marblize paper with food colouring and oil, using no harmful chemicals. Since oil and water don't mix, the food colouring only stains the paper where the oil doesn't settle, creating beautiful and exciting scenes. This is a fantastic and low-cost craft to do with kids.

Cling Wrap Roll as Pencil Case
By katrine2706
This is made from the core from a roll of cling wrap. People think I'm a hoarder for keeping things that should be thrown away, but for me it is something that should be kept because I think I can create something from it. And I guess I'm right!

Starburst decor is very trendy right now, but often comes with pretty silly price tags. It's quite easy to put one together, especially if you're like me and have loads of extra wooden skewers in the utensil drawer! All you need are some skewers, paint, and half a Styrofoam ball.

My mom recently purchased an amazing Breezecatcher revolving clothesline and decided that she really wanted to have a clothespin apron to use when hanging the wash. She found a style she liked online and we decided that we to make one using her choice of fabrics. This is how it turned out. She absolutely loves it!

Dry rice makes a great medium for kids to play with. You can make a mini sandbox filled with rice that they can play in with trucks or action figures. White rice isn't very exciting though. It is very easy to dye rice whatever colors you want using food coloring.

This is a fun and easy way to make a very pretty piece of wall art using the cardboard centers of toilet paper rolls. Spray painting it is completely optional, but I like the sheen to make it look less like toilet paper tubes! ;)

Freezer Paper Stencils For Painting Fabric

A friend recently showed me how to make stencils out of freezer paper for painting personalized T-shirts. We made a variety of T-shirts both freehand and using a computer graphic as a template.

I take old T-shirts and cut off the binding around the neck. There is no need to cut deeper as this will stretch far enough making a scoop neckline. Then comes the fun part. Use a decorative stitch on your sewing machine to sew around the neckline.

Take an old child's shirt, preferably with spaghetti straps. Turn it inside out and sew the bottom of the shirt. Turn it right way and you're done. Great for small games and books. We also use them in the summer for each child's swimsuit and towel.

Take small snack size baggie (I used larger as that is what I had). Fill up with a little bit of hair gel. I used green as I was doing a garden. Add pre-cut flowers and, there you go, a portable squeezable garden.

You don't have to spend a fortune at the craft stores to make a great natural wreath. If you have a willow tree that loves to drop its long branches all over the yard, then you have about all you need.

I'm not suggesting you wear old tissue boxes for bedroom slippers like Howard Hughes, but you can turn them into useful stuff. I was able to make at least 3 purse or pocket-sized notebooks out of one decorative box.

This Week's QuestionsRemoving the Thread Take-up Lever on a Singer 99 Sewing MachineI broke the thread uptake lever on my Singer 99 and need to remove it. Has anyone done this? We can't seem to remove it. We figured out the "lefthand" screws, but we can't get the whole mechanism out.Best Glue for Updating a Cylinder Glass Block BarI'm trying to update my ugly old cylinder glass block bar and cover it up with something! Any ideas?Adjusting the Tension When Using Heavy Upholstery ThreadI have a Brother XL 2230 sewing machine. I always run into a problem with the stitch tension adjustment. When sewing a cotton suede upholstery fabric I was OK when I tested the stitch with a polyester thread. When I decided to use the extra strong upholstery thread my stitches became loose on the wrong side of fabric. I tried decreasing and increasing the top dial, but it doesn't get better.Handmade Earring Business Name IdeasTie-dyeing a Wedding DressThriftyFun Contests! This newsletter is powered by you!
