Steve Posselt FIE, author, adventurer and current chair of the Sustainable Engineering Society (SENG), will take you on an incredible journey with his wheeled kayak. The only person to have paddled up the Mississippi in a flood, Steve will have you spellbound as he tells of his passage to Paris for the COP21 Climate Summit. After leaving in January 2015, his trip culminated back in Canberra in 2017. On the way he learned a new way of thinking; a way of explaining what were seemingly inexplicable communication difficulties. What Steve learned can be seen every day once one is aware. The climate change message, that is the science, has not sunk in where it is most needed. The message is correct, but the messaging has failed. Steve will provide insights into how our imperfect brains work, and how to tailor communication approaches to suit. Steve will also discuss SENG, its relevance, initiatives and what the future may hold. Light refreshments will be provided. Date: Wednesday, 28th August 2019 - doors open 5.30pm for a 6pm start. Concludes ~7.30pm Venue: Level 11, 108 King William Street, Adelaide SA 5000 Cost: SENG/EA Members $10, SENG/EA Student Members Free, Non-Members $30 Register: Via the Engineers Australia website |
