What Ida could do to utility billsHurricane Ida's fearsome Category 4 winds did a number on Southeast Louisiana's power grid, and we're going to be paying for it in our utility bills. Entergy is asking for permission to charge its customers $5 more a month for $15 years to pay off the cost of all the repairs. Emergency food stamps system overwhelmedAnother sign of the damage Ida did: Monday was the first day to apply for emergency food stamps, and so many people called about them that the whole system crashed. Popular rapper arrested in trail ride shootingIn August 2020, a trail ride in Roseland, a town in Tangipahoa Parish, turned into a shootout, and a woman died in the crossfire. Since then, police have arrested seven people. The most recent suspect is a rapper who goes by "JayDaYoungan." His songs have been streamed millions of time online.
