GP surgeries not ready to cope with second wave and winter

Now, you can’t knock them for their optimism, but as we enter a second major phase of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s difficult to wonder if it’s all a bit pie in the sky.

The Government is shelling out £100bn for a mass coronavirus testing programme that would work instantly in people’s homes - a bit like a pregnancy test - even though experts are sceptical about its ability to deliver.

The programme, in what can only be described as a tongue in cheek move, is called Operation Moonshot.
