Doesn't it seem like just yesterday that we were admiring those Fab Four Christmas photos and speculating about when the royal baby would come? But somehow — and we truly don't know how this happened so quickly — 2019 is almost over. Before we ring in the new year, we wanted to look back at some of the biggest royal stories from this past year.
A lot has happened: We welcomed a new member of the Royal Family, for one thing. There were engagements and tours and lawsuits. There were birthdays and anniversaries and renovations and candid conversations and feuds and patronages and fashion. Oh, was there ever fashion.
Enjoy our retrospective of the biggest royals stories of 2019, and above all, have a happy new year, royal watchers! |

Here are birthday portraits of Prince George, smiling a sweet toothless smile at 6, Princess Charlotte, looking both graceful and playful at 4, and teeny Prince Louis, who's very excitable at 1The Cambridge Kids were equally adorable at Kate's "Back To Nature" garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show preview (which George said he would rate a "20" out of 10) |

| | This isn't the kind of news we often cover, but we can't talk about the Royal Family's 2019 without getting into Prince Andrew's ties with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail before facing trial on charges of sex trafficking minors.
The still somewhat shady connection between the two, and the controversy surrounding it, led to the prince stepping down from royal duties in November. |

| | Over the summer, "Good Morning America" anchor Lara Spencer made a mocking reference to Prince George's interest in dance.
The backlash was swift and clear: don't make fun of boys who like dancing. |

The royals often spend New Year at Sandringham, but while they're (usually) all together at Christmas, they sometimes split up for New Year's Eve. The Queen and Prince Philip will stay at Sandringham, and often invite family members who weren't there for Christmas. William and Kate sometimes go to her parents' holiday home in West Berkshire, England, where the couple spent their first New Year's as husband and wife. Harry and Meghan have previously rung in the New Year in Monaco. |
