New refugee waste management partnership

We're excited to join the brand new SWEEP (Sustainable Waste Employment and Environmental Progress) partnership alongside Last Mile Climate, the Danish Refugee Council, and other key stakeholders, to together address waste management challenges in displacement areas. A recent field visit to Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya helped us exchange learnings and evaluate the waste management system.

Celebrating plastic waste start-ups

From transforming plastic waste into new sustainable products to developing technologies to drive forward recycling, meet five innovative start-ups in India who have been selected to receive a special prototype grant to help further develop their products and services. Start-ups which are receiving expert mentorship through our FINILOOP programme and showcasing the importance of entrepreneurship in creating plastic waste free cities.

Transforming e-waste

E-waste is one of the fastest growing solid waste streams in the world, and also one of the most valuable if recycled correctly. In Kenya, one pioneering social business is turning waste into wealth by ensuring the safe disposal of more than 11,000 tonnes of e-waste and creating hundreds of green jobs for women and youth. The WEEE centre is just one of the inspiring Small and Growing Businesses being supported on its investment journey through our Take-a-Stake initiative.
