Hi everyone! I’m excited to take over the newsletter this week and to start covering Maryland alongside the rest of the team. I grew up in Baltimore County, so this feels like a full-circle moment for me.
Â
Yesterday, I had the chance to meet some of you at the Greater Baltimore Committee's roundtable with Tom Barkin, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. I covered the event in our community Slack's #baltimore channel, which you can join here. Barkin touched on a range of topics, including the overall state of the market and how Baltimore can strengthen workforce retention.Â
Â
In other news, I put together our latest guide to Baltimore's coding bootcamps, which we update annually to share new information on local programs that can help kickstart a tech career. Meanwhile, Kaela reported on a Baltimore-area company that revamped its platform to help Salesforce users cut costs.

Baltimore-based Era launched in 2024 as a data time-tracking tool within Salesforce. But this month, Era pivoted its product to address new customer demands. The platform now analyzes user activity to recommend when a company can reassign licenses, potentially reducing costs significantly during tighter economic times.Â

"We’re addressing what I think is one of the biggest common complaints, or biggest issues, people have with Salesforce," founder Guy Tawney told Kaela, “the price tag.” Continue reading ...Â
