| | The man who put the ‘snap’ in Honeycrisp is stepping aside | Jim Luby became interested in this field at a young age. His mother was a guide at the Arboretum at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He studied biology in high school and in summers worked on his uncle’s dairy farm. And his first job out of school was working breeding oats. “I decided this is kind of cool — you get to work outside during the nice part of the year,” he said. “It’s an outdoor job. It takes advantage of my interests in biology, genetics. Get to do something in agriculture, get to do something that’s hopefully good for people.” | |

| | Months after Twin Cities highway closed, repairs to reopen it are set to begin | It’s been more than three months since a state highway in the Twin Cities unexpectedly closed after saturated soil on a hillside gave way, undermining the pavement. But the end of the closure may be in sight. But the end of the closure may be in sight. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says work is set to begin this week to repair that stretch of Highway 13 in Mendota Heights. “Our target is to have the roadway open by Nov. 1,” said MnDOT maintenance operations engineer Chris Hoberg.

The first of these events was held a few weeks ago, in the community room of a condo complex in Minneapolis. The play, “PARTS” by James Anthony Tyler, follows a conservative man dealing with loneliness and a strained relationship with his family. | |
