Meet the Sisters: Gert & Goldie |
Gert Brewer | The oldest daughter of an alcoholic ex-nun and a traveling salesman, Gert will happily tell you she’s resourceful, thick-skinned and super intelligent (but less-so when hungover). Moving to the Gold Rush is her idea – to finally ditch Sydney (and their shady, criminal secret), start afresh, and take advantage of the lack of other single women. Ferociously optimistic with loose moral boundaries, Gert cruises on the right side of formidable: scary AF when she wants to be, but also non-judgmental, sexually liberated, and a total party monster. While she doesn’t really do vulnerable, Gert has an unyielding loyalty to her little sister, Marigold.

Marigold Brewer | Marigold is positivity personified, and at any given moment can be the most naïve and most insightful person in the room. She loves to be loved, and often plays up her innocence, or resorts to white lies to keep people on side. Marigold makes friends wherever she goes, but she has never been in love, and has never gone past 3rd base with anyone. Big sister Gert is her hero, confidante, and rock – but also the person who routinely leads her into dicey situations. While being rich and independent would be nice, Marigold’s true objective is to find safety and security in a loving relationship with a hunk who can cook a tasty gruel.

Gold Diggers | "Despite being set 150 years ago, Gold Diggers is a modern-day tale about ambition and the need to challenge the status quo. Fundamentally, this is a story about two people who are tired of the life they’ve been dealt. They want to change their fortunes. Risk it all." - Jack
