Preparing for the end of the continuous enrollment requirement during labor shortages
On March 31, 2023, the Continuous Enrollment Requirement for Medicaid and CHIP patients will end. CMS forecasts that more than 25% of these patients could lose coverage, causing an increase in patient access activity, eligibility and enrollment needs, and ultimately denials. s of December 2, 2023, Georgetown University's Unwinding Tracker suggested that the states are not prepared for this. The impact on providers is predictable: increased eligibility & enrollment needs, denials, and uncompensated care. There is also an additional burden: we're experiencing the lowest unemployment rates in 50 years.
