Donate $10 (or whatever you can) to stop Trump TV from getting bigger and more dangerous. Hi there, We can’t let the FCC destroy local news and replace it with pro-Trump propaganda. But that’s exactly what will happen if Trump gets his way and the Sinclair Broadcast Group is allowed to take over Tribune Media. By now you’ve likely seen the video of local news anchors at Sinclair stations who were forced to read identical scripts criticizing networks like CNN and NBC for being “biased.” The video — which parrots Trump’s repeated jabs at the two networks — is catching fire and exposing what a dangerous company Sinclair is. Sinclair is a racist, Islamophobic media empire whose broadcasts will reach 72 percent of U.S. households if its deal goes through. We need to seize this moment to expose Sinclair and push the FCC to end the runaway media consolidation that’s silencing our communities. Chip in $10 (or whatever you can) to #StopSinclair and take back the airwaves. Free Press has been standing up to Sinclair for nearly 15 years and we’re the #1 opponent of its scheme to merge with Tribune. We’ve filed a formal complaint at the FCC, sued the agency over its rollback of media-ownership rules, and mobilized more than 100,000 people to take action. But the coming weeks are crucial and we need your support. Help us shame Sinclair and stop Trump TV: Donate $10 (or whatever you can) today. Here’s the thing: We’re fighting the Sinclair-Tribune merger so hard because people like you deserve media outlets that are independent, diverse and actually serve and care for local communities. Like an open internet and a free press, diverse media ownership is essential for people to tell their own stories, dismantle White supremacy, and build a more just, caring and equitable society. Stopping Sinclair is an essential first step. With thanks— Collette, Carrie and the rest of the Free Press Action Fund team P.P.S. You may have noticed we've got a brand-new logo and colors. We also have a brand-new website and action pages. And we're changing the way we talk about our work. That means more useful content, more voices and perspectives, and storytelling that reflects our organizational commitment to racial equity. |
