It’s not as easy as it sounds, however, especially considering how most of us struggle to take person time to reflect at all let alone when we’re faced with intense timezone changes. That’s where AURA comes in handy. It takes the guesswork out of meditating and the torture out of jet lag so you feel enlightened upon arrival. Designed primarily for business travelers and frequent flyers, it provides a personal place of serenity and relaxation using an immersive combination of virtual reality and light/sound therapy. During a flight, users can place headphones over the head and extend the retractable visor down for complete isolation. Then, the environment of their choice can be selected with custom options for scenery and sound. They can also choose to follow a number of guided meditations to destress, unwind or refocus the mind in preparation for their journey. They’re also what inspired designer Pankaj Kuli to create this futuristic Tesla personal vehicle concept. Looking to the year 2050, this semi-autonomous flying machine aims to move elite passengers from point A to point B as the crow flies. The only requirement (besides having tons of money!) is having a home helipad to travel to a variety of destinations including malls, hospitals, hotels and welcome centers which will also be equipped with landing pads. Aesthetically, it maintains the minimalistic yet fluid look of Tesla’s current lineup and actually looks quite similar to the logo. Do you think Tesla’s got what it takes to do this by 2050? | A Wristwatch for the Bold at Heart Posted: 22 Feb 2018 06:58 AM PST If watches were fonts, this one would be a Futura Bold. Geometric, aesthetic, and damn near perfect, the MODUCO watch makes a strong statement thanks to its thick, dominant bezel that takes inspiration from an unlikely source… raw industrial piping! The Swiss-made, American-designed MODUCO was designed to represent the duality of city life. Simple yet bold, raw but sophisticated. The watch’s body is dominated by a cylindrical pipe-shaped structure that cuts through the body of the watch, extruding out of the top as well as the bottom. Like a bold character, it guides one’s attention to the watch itself, and then to the time within it. That circle and the way it cuts through the watch becomes a strong symbol of the watch itself. Look at the watch face and you even see the markings and Roman numerals following the same bold, extruded trend. They’re simple, yet striking. The watch body comes in a variety of complementing and contrasting color combinations. Both the case and bezel use 316L stainless steel, but the case comes with a sandblasted matte finish, while the cylindrical bezel showcases a brushed metal finish. Both parts come in complementing silver on silver and black on black, highlighting the difference in finishes, whereas you can also opt for the time-tested black+gold, black+rose gold, or black+silver combinations to bring out the watch’s bold O bezel. Additionally, you can even choose between calf leather, stainless steel, and a NATO weave for your strap. The MODUCO watch comes in a limited edition Automatic Sellita SW200 movement with 26 jewels, a calendar at the 3 o’clock position, an exhibition back, and a 38 hour running time. It is finely balanced with a combination of traditional finishing techniques interpreted in fresh new ways. The top of the bezel is diagonally brushed which adds interest and assists in creating depth and a sense of perspective. This is contrasted with heavy vertical brushing on the bezel side. These two planes are broken by a highly polished chamfer that beautifully captures and reflects light. The case body is sculpted with clean architectural lines and completed with a subtle sandblast finish to contrast the industrial rawness of the cylinder bezel. The crown plays in harmony with the bezel and displays heavy vertical brushing on the side of the cylinder and the top which is separated by a notched chamfer to provide a firm grip for setting the watch. | The Almost Supersonic Supertrain Posted: 22 Feb 2018 02:02 AM PST SpaceTrain concept pays homage to the legendary project of the Aerotrain, an avant-garde achievement of the engineer Jean Bertin and his team who were active in the 50s and 60s. The modern Spacetrain aims to connect and exceed the same 12 mile line of the Aerotrain located between the French cities of Saran and Ruan that remains currently unused. The subterranean train system would circulate in a system of tunnels operating in a low pressure atmosphere at near-supersonic speeds. This innovative tunnel system isn’t just ideal for speed, it also prevents vibration and noise that would otherwise disrupt nearby neighborhoods and the environment. The first prototype is said to use a hydrogen turbine engine and be constructed in carbon fiber with graphene carbon breaks, graphene batteries, fuel cells and a myriad of other technologically advanced features. It projects a screen anywhere from 30 to a 100 inches. This slick little device has the footprint of an external hard disk and can connect to your devices via USB or HDMI (or just plug that Chromecast in). It uses DLP technology to provide an image that’s better in quality than an LCD and even heats up less. Weighing just over 200 grams, the FastFox comes with a tripod mount and even a remote control that lets you set it up and use it with a great degree of freedom. While the 2 hours of battery life may not be enough for your “The Crown” binge-watching sessions, the FastFox comes with a MicroUSB charging input that lets you plug your mobile charger (or even a power bank) into it. | Space-saving, planet-saving paper furniture! Posted: 21 Feb 2018 02:05 PM PST If you thought this single-leather-piece card-case was marvelous, wait till I introduce you to Octa. Made out of 3 pieces of corrugated cardboard, the Octa can become a rather sturdy stool capable of taking a grown human’s weight. In fact, it can even be height adjusted by simply determining the depth of the incision you make in the cardboard pieces. In that sense, you can literally have a table and stool assembled with 6 sheets of cardboard. The structure employs 8 interlocked pyramids that help disperse weight along the edge of the corrugated cardboard sheet. It uses paper, ensuring that the product is recyclable, and can even be produced from recycled wood/paper. Since production of wooden goods emits less amount of carbon dioxide than that of metal or plastics, the Octa has a rather small carbon footprint.
