What we know about the iPhone 8 Posted: 26 Jul 2017 12:00 PM PDT Let’s do a rumor recap for the iPhone 8. Unlike some people speculated, it obviously isn’t transparent. It still has no headphone jack (sad-face), and like we’re all expecting, Apple has ditched the TouchID on the phone because they’re having major issues with engineering it into the screen. It seems like a rather illogical thing to do, especially considering how they kickstarted the touch-authentication movement (buying the touch panel company before Motorola could… and that’s why Motorola phones have just a circular scoop on their back and no touch sensor). The dual camera at the back still remains, but changes orientation, going from a side by side format to a vertical one, possibly intending that the iPhone will take better shallow DOF (virtually tilt-shift) photos. The most discussed design detail however is the screen, that leaves no bezel on any side, pretty much sticking a finger to the competition. The screen takes on a slightly different shape, as it curves out of the way for the receiver, the proximity sensor, and the front facing camera. These renderings by Dante Metaphor may just be the real deal… but there’s no way of knowing until Mr. Cook unveils the design at the next keynote! Designer: Dante Metaphor |
Posted: 26 Jul 2017 09:00 AM PDT Is the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile ever going to make up its mind?! First it was out with the Halo and in with the Shield. Now it’s in with the Halo and out with the Shield? These two distinct driver protection features for F1 seem to be in constant competition the FIA’s attention! Designer Olcay Tuncay Karabulut is prepared either way. First he gave us a glimpse as to what we might expect from the Shield with his ultra-aerodynamic proposal. Now he’s back at it with this concept for what a Halo system might look and function like. It looks pretty sleek but we’re not sure if that’s because it’s sitting on a hot Ferrari SF-18 concept that he’s also responsible for. Which one do you prefer? Designer: Olcay Tuncay Karabulut |
Posted: 26 Jul 2017 07:31 AM PDT I have more respect for Razer than I do for Apple because they never put their personal agenda on a higher priority than that of their fan-base. From the very beginning, they’ve been the dedicated source for high-quality gear for gamers and computer geeks. Catering to gamers is harder than you’d think because their demands are usually the highest, which makes Razer’s products pretty state-of-the-art. We saw their power bank earlier last week which could charge not just your phone, but even your laptop! Following that philosophy of empowering the user is the Razer Turret, a completely wireless Keyboard and Mouse kit that sits vertically on your desk or table and unfolds on your lap when you want it to. The Turret was built for a specific scenario. Couch Gaming. Designed to wirelessly connect to your device via Bluetooth (preferably to your TV), the Turret is a full scale keyboard, built in with a smooth mousepad to run your wireless mouse across. Packaged in an unbelievably sleek and light framework (with a mouse that boasts of ergonomics that make hours of gaming a breeze), the keyboard can run on a single charge for 4 months, while the mouse gives you 40 hours of battery life on a single charge. Let those gaming marathons begin! Designer: Razer BUY NOWBUY NOW |
Power Up Just for Apple Fanboys! Posted: 26 Jul 2017 04:00 AM PDT If you have an Apple Watch, you almost certainly have an iPhone if not an iPad as well! So why not simplify your remote charging with one handy device?! That’s the idea behind the Power Tube 6000 W2. This nifty nugget of power features a wireless charging dock for your Apple Watch and a lighting connector for your iPhone and iPad. Once the unit is fully powered, you can charge your watch up to 10 times or your iPhone to completion 2.5 times! That’s a ton of power between your devices… so you’ll almost never have to worry about losing one or the other when you can’t find an outlet! It’s conveniently compact so you can toss it in a bag or purse and pull it out any time you need a boost! Designer: Xinny Lin |

Posted: 25 Jul 2017 05:44 PM PDT In what would normally be the size footprint of a flashlight, the Kelvin 36 Ultra Urban Multi Tool cleverly organizes 36 tools (including said flashlight). I say cleverly because of the way the tools are organized. On the front, lies the flashlight, which rests above a screwdriver bit holder. The flashlight points directly where one would need it to while screwing in something. The holder folds in to keep the form compact, and even locks at 90° (as opposed to the fully opened 180°) giving you not only the ability to tighten screws in difficult-to-reach spots, but also giving you extra torque for those hard-to-turn rusted screws. Open the Kelvin 36 Ultra to reveal 26 interchangeable hardened CR-V screwdriver heads, all from small bits that can tighten screws on spectacles, to the largest of bits, to Allen keys, Torx bits, to even a box-cutter. Resting underneath that is a corkscrew (there’s also a regular bottle opener built in)… again, appropriately placed for easy-twisting. Built into the Kelvin 36 Ultra is also a measuring tape, and a leveling spirit guide. Once you make measurements, you can even hammer in nails with the cast zinc hammer-head located on the back. The Kelvin 36 Ultra is a full blown tool-shed in your hand. You can literally go from opening that IKEA box to assembling the furniture inside with literally just one tool. It makes the Swiss Army Knife look like a pretty little toy. Designer: Kelvin Tools BUY NOWBUY NOW |
Posted: 25 Jul 2017 02:17 PM PDT Boy oh boy, would this pillow be perfect for those Monday Blues. Literally, because you can play the blues while you snooze! A thing of absolute beauty to anyone overcome by a stressful workplace, or a deadbeat job, the Ototone pillow lets you take a break and rest your forehead against your workspace. Its horseshoe shape wraps around the sides of your head, not only keeping your ears warm, but it even allows you slip your earphones into it via sleeves located on both sides. You can then grab a brief session of shut-eye while listening to some soothing music, or better still, cue in an alarm, so that you can wake yourself up without anyone else hearing! Posted: 25 Jul 2017 12:44 PM PDT Lego. Made of plastic, incredibly versatile, endless possibilities, knows no age boundaries, and is an absolute nightmare to step on. These spherical blocks, and their various accessories/attachments, can either act as units to build moving/pivoted structures, or even as individual pixels that can interlock at 18 different points (as opposed to the standard Lego brick that only fits in one way). The Block’s rhombicuboctahedron shape gives it multiple points of fixture and its ball and socket style joinery that put it on a level above Lego. It can even be plugged sideways or even diagonally while being plugged up and down, making larger structures much more rigid. Introduce colors and custom blocks into the mix and you can make yourself toys that can actually move! 10/10 would watch an animated movie made from these blocks if the Warner Bros. made it!
