Posted: 27 Jun 2017 06:00 AM PDT With coffee, it’s all about speed. You’ve got instant coffee, coffee pods, coffee-to-go, premixed coffee, the works. However, take it from the true coffee aficionados when they say that time makes all the difference. While you’re hot-brewing your coffee to extract every bit of flavor from the beans, there’s nothing quite as healthy, aromatic, and refreshing as a cold-brew. Cold brews take time, but then again, all good things do! Dripo is a rather handy, non-electric apparatus that allows you to patiently brew coffee using the cold-brew technique. Standing at one foot tall, this brewing kit allows you to make your cold coffee in two ways, one, using a drip technique where the water filters downwards through the coffee grounds, and two, where you just submerge the coffee grounds into the water and let them infuse their golden beauty into the clear liquid. Both techniques are said to be healthier and tastier than conventionally made cold-coffees. The best part? The Dripo converts into a leak-proof tumbler to carry your coffee (or even brew it) on the go. Ideal for coffee lovers, the Dripo lets you experiment with a healthier, tastier, and more refreshing alternative. Set it up and leave it on your counter/desk or in your car for two hours and let the Dripo do its thing. You can even carry it around wherever you go, getting access to refreshingly good coffee no matter what, without heat or electricity. Yeah, you better stash that Keurig away. Posted: 26 Jun 2017 05:10 PM PDT Noise Cancelling. It’s such a wonderful thing. Instead of blocking your ears shut to cut out noise (which will still get in because any sound traveling into your body has a way of making it to your ear canal), active noise cancelling uses a microphone to listen to the sounds around you and plays out frequencies that help cancel them out. Probably one of the latest ground-breaking movements in consumer audio technology, noise cancelling has a device of its own now. The QuietOn are earplugs with some serious tech in them. Designed to completely outdo any other ear-plug or earmuff you’ve seen or used, the QuietOn not only block sound from entering your ear, but they also work towards cancelling any sound that may still leak in. A lot like the Here One earphones by Doppler Labs that are designed to modulate the sound entering your ear, the QuietOn are designed only to cut sound out. Perfect for while traveling, meditating, while at work, or especially while sleeping, the QuietOn actively cuts out all sounds up to an impressive 40 decibels… including but not limited to noisy workplaces, annoying neighbors (and their dogs), car sounds, and serial snorers! The earplugs also do a marvelous job of providing 50 hours of usage time on a single charge! Designer: QuietOn BUY NOWBUY NOW |
This hanger comes with a user manual! Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:51 PM PDT Not to be outdone by what its competitors are doing in the laundry domain, Panasonic decided to launch a clothes hanger. But this isn’t just some regular hanger… it’s designed to replace something more than 50 times its size. The washing machine. Probably the most head-scratchingly unique thing you’ll see in a while, Panasonic’s Deodorizing Hanger comes with a proprietary technology capable of deodorizing your clothes with nano-particles. Just leave your clothes on the hanger for up to 6 hours and the hanger takes all the stench and musty odor out, making your garment smell fresh and new. It however comes with two rather large caveats. You’ll need access to a power socket (there’s a better chance of finding Narnia than a socket in my wardrobe), and secondly, it only works with smells (like smoke or sweat), and won’t take stains out of your clothes, so best if you don’t combine your love for fresh, crisp suits with your love for tacos. Plus, the Deodorizing Hanger retails at 20,000 yen, which roughly amounts to $180. This one definitely goes into the Hall of Weird Fame. Designer: Panasonic |
The Automotive Automatic Crossover! Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:24 PM PDT What do you do with a spare BMW M52 straight-six engine? Restore it to go back into the car? Or to make it probably the most beautiful display for your collection of automatic watches? Vulcan Innova’s VI52 Watch Winder argues that the latter is also a rather amazing way to go. Having fully refurbished and then customized the straight-six engine block, the VI52 Watch Winder allows you to mount your automatic watches on pistons in sheer style and have them docked inside the piston chambers on the engine. The pistons then rotate, creating movement to charge/wind your automatic watches, while putting on a fabulously opulent show to go with it. The pistons dock and un-dock at the press of a button. Once put back in place, they rotate with the help of stepper engines that turn the watches clockwise and anti-clockwise at slow speeds (you don’t want the BMW’s engine to do its own thing, right?!). The stepper engines are also a whole lot quieter than what the M52’s engine would sound like. Depending on your watch, you can pick from one of eight different movements to to suit your watch’s make. If you’re a watch and vehicle enthusiast, nothing could glorify those both interests more than the VI52 Watch Winder… that’s if you have $25,000 to spare! Designer: Vulcan Innova |
