Posted: 06 Dec 2016 07:31 AM PST Competitive athletes’ success can be determined by between mere milliseconds or even a millimeter! This means they must take into account every possible factor to ensure they have the best chances of winning, and that includes environmental differences between where they compete and train. Pace is a device that measures the environment for endurance athletes. The athlete measures the environment where they train periodically to build an understanding on what the athlete’s body is acclimated to. The athlete then measures the environment that they are competing in. Depending on their unique acclimation and what the race environment is, Pace suggests an adjustment in their pace/target heart rate to prepare for more harsh environments or to take advantage of more favorable conditions. Posted: 06 Dec 2016 04:20 AM PST We don’t often consider the everyday stool to be conforming (or even very comfortable) to the user in the same way as many other seating solutions. The Infinity stool, however, was designed to adapt to the seated person’s unique anatomy and their desired comfort settings. The height of the stool can be adjusted from 22″ to 30″ depending on its usage and the corresponding table or counter. Additionally, the height of the backrest can also be adjusted with respect to the height of the user. With a simple slide, users can go from no backrest to full support with an almost infinite number of variations in height! |
Posted: 06 Dec 2016 02:17 AM PST Winter is almost in full swing, which means it’s about time to make the most of some fresh powdery snow. This season, strap on some Sled Legs for an entirely new downhill thrill! The wearable design straps comfortably to the lower legs/knees and their durable polymer shell is specially adapted to let you carve through snow. Inspired by the sled and modified for the human anatomy, they’re comfortable to wear and allow for complete freedom of movement. Because you’re not bound to a board or cumbersome skis, you can go off trail and shred just about anywhere! Better yet, their compact size makes them easier to carry than a full size board or skis! Posted: 05 Dec 2016 02:03 PM PST Most architects don’t even attempt the Mountain Cliff Hotel idea. It seems incredible, but poses some serious engineering risks. However that doesn’t stop us from creating concepts, does it! The Alps hotel may be conceptual, but it does make a bold attempt at designing something most architects try not to attempt. Notice the jagged façade of the hotel. It almost resembles the undulating surface of the cliff. The choice of glass for the façade also helps reflecting everything around, making the Hotel blend in, but still manage to really stand out and grab eyes! What a way to live in the edge! Floating ferromagnetic furniture Posted: 05 Dec 2016 12:34 PM PST I imagine it’s a lot of fun sitting on a chair that’s levitating in the air. The Torso Magnetic Chair looks pretty enticing, and I can only assume that it will bring out the child in me when I place my backside on it! Assembled together and held in place using cords and magnetic repulsion, the Torso Magnetic Chair has its own suspension! The magical bit is that you don’t immediately notice the magnets, owing to their concealed nature. The seat is made of a fiberglass concrete blend while the base is made of wood. Hidden surreptitiously between these lie magnetic films, thin enough to be hidden from sight, yet powerful enough to give the chair its magical seating experience! Designer: Kim Minjae |
