Hello again, LSU fans! We wrap up our unparalleled SEC Media Days coverage from Atlanta with several stories that will surely catch your attention this morning. But there's more, like softball, baseball and track. So, let's get started. SEC MEDIA DAYS Of course, you knew that Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher was going to be on the hot seat Thursday. So columnist Scott Rabalais took the opportunity to check in and see how fast-talking Jimbo has spent his spring and summer — putting out fires all over the place. Speaking of coaches that had a tough offseason, Auburn's Bryan Harsin didn't have a walk in the park, either. And, Scott puts a bow on the proceedings in Atlanta with his always-informative Four Downs and they kept us in the loop with their live tweets and updates. FOOTBALL Back home, two highly-regarded, but oft-injured linebackers have been removed from the LSU roster because of medical issues. SOFTBALL Coach Beth Torina picked up a big-time transfer with the addition of Michigan's Hannah Carson, an All-Big Ten second-team pick this past season. BASEBALL Jay Johnson has already replaced a couple of his full-time assistant coaches and now he has to find a new director of baseball operations. TRACK AND FIELD With the World championships winding down in Eugene, Oregon, Natoya Goule advanced through the 800 meters first-round heats and earned a spot in Friday's semifinals. Also, former Tigers pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, the world record holder, begins his quest Friday for a gold medal to go with the Olympic gold he won last summer. BOOK EXCERPT Today, with 44 days to go before LSU's season opener, we take a look back at one of the Tigers' first All-Americans — Marvin "Moose" Stewart. That's it for now. As always, thanks for reading and have a great day! Sheldon Mickles |
