Wakanda Forever: Fictional African nation listed as US trade partner One of Americaâs strengths is its economic ties with partners around the world. Itâs allowed Americans to enjoy foods, products and services that wouldnât be accessible otherwise, but sometimes necessity dictates plans like tariffs or bans be put into effect. So when users logged in to the USDA website to see which trade partners were exempt from tariffs for 2020, they got the surprise of their lives. Listed among approved trade partners was the African nation of Wakanda, a country known for the precious metal vibranium, as well as King TâChalla, the Black Panther. But as any Marvel or Disney fan can tell you, Wakanda doesnât exist, and neither do vibranium or the Black Panther. Apparently, the listing was left over from an earlier website test where a comic book geek decided to fill in a blank space with a placeholder country. A super mistake if there ever was one. Marvelâs special effects are some of the best in the industry. Even the suits can be digital! Tap or click for a behind-the-scenes look at the special effects of âBlack Panther.â â |
