• The aforementioned Baltimore Homecoming's last day today involves several presentations from local technologists, as well as the annual Crab Tank pitch competition. The latter event's competitor WhitePaw RunMitts, apparently one of two Black-owned outdoor gear companies in the US, won the top prize of $25,000 and an additional people's choice award worth $2,500.
• State-created economic engine TEDCO yesterday reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in Maryland's tech world. This involves several new and initiatives, including a webpage, diversity rider and company registration process that involves collecting race and ethnicity data.

• Earlier today, Galen Robotics hosted its first open house at its 1100 Wicomico HQ in Pigtown. The biotech company and Johns Hopkins spinout invited Mayor Brandon Scott, local tech and business development leaders and the broader community to experience its newest generation of surgical robots. 
• Come Tuesday, the University of Maryland will open its latest building, the E.A. Fernandez IDEA Factory. While the building is on UMD's College Park campus, its focus on engineering and entrepreneurship reflects an ongoing commitment to innovation and commercial opportunity that the state university system has also pursued through initiatives (for instance, UM Ventures) that affect its major medical campus in Baltimore. 
• The Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC) of Westminster, Maryland, on Monday announced its sponsorship of Innovators of Progress. The latter organization, which produces a pre-accelerator program for full-time student entrepreneurs, can now raise funds for its programming under MAGIC's nonprofit status. 
  • As part of this exchange, Innovators of Progress Executive Director Markus Proctor has joined MAGIC's board. 
• According to The Baltimore Sun, local apparel giant Under Armour's stock dove to a share value of $10.90. The company is still pursuing a multiyear growth plan amid supply chain- and COVID-related challenges.
•  A union consisting of over 150 Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course workers ratified a new three-year contract with the Maryland Jockey Club. The contract, which provides certain workers with better health benefits and wages, was agreed upon barely two weeks before the Preakness Stakes returns to Pimlico on May 21.
