A union of adjunct faculty at the San Francisco Art Institute are decrying board members’ consideration of selling the 1931 Diego Rivera mural “The Making of a Fresco, Showing the Building of a City”.Rivera once described his paintings as “true and complete pictures of the life of the toiling masses.” “The whole point for him,” Latin American art scholar James Oles said in an interview, “was they’re not commodities.”
