Winning the Black Male Vote, Making Broadband More Accessible, and More

Despite targeted outreach and a lot of rhetoric, presidential candidates are missing why some Black male voters feel invisible in the 2020 election. Ahead of the South Carolina primary, Rashawn Ray argues that candidates need to work harder to understand the policy priorities—particularly on jobs and the economy—of Black men.

Broadband is so influential on society that it can now be considered essential infrastructure. So why do millions of U.S. households still lack access? In a new report, Adie Tomer, Lara Fishbane, Angela Siefer, and Bill Callahan highlight the systemic barriers to universal broadband and outline a series of interventions to bridge availability gaps across the nation.

“For both Prime Minister Modi and for President Trump, they’d been looking to get a political boost out of this trip, and I think both come away from it quite pleased,” says Tanvi Madan. Though overshadowed by sectarian riots in Delhi, President Donald Trump’s state visit to India helped reinforce areas of cooperation between the world’s two largest democracies.
