| | | | Hi there, did you see my last email? In it, I told you about our plan to take on Google in the fight for consumer privacy – to demand they let users opt-out of creepy app tracking. It’s a David-and-Goliath battle. But there are thousands of us willing to stand up for our right to privacy. Together we can make it happen – but we need to step up our campaign now. A donation from you could help us reach more privacy advocates around the world, and pile on the pressure at a pivotal moment. Will you help today? It takes just 2 minutes: Read on to hear more about our ambitious plan – and why we think it will work: (Original message below) | | | Dear Mozilla Supporter, Imagine having someone follow you from store to store when you go shopping, taking note of everything you pick up from the shelf or put in your cart. We’d all agree it was weird, right? But that’s what tech companies are doing as you shop online – and they can even track you as you switch between apps. That’s why together, we’re fighting back against online snooping from advertisers by lifting the lid on tech companies’ shady practices. And recently, we called on Apple to let users opt out of tracking by apps on iPhones. Thanks to a global outpouring of voices, they listened.
It’s a brilliant win against corporate snooping, made possible by privacy advocates like you. But we’re not done just yet. We’re gearing up to take on another tech giant – Google – but to do that we need to step up our campaign now. We're campaigning for Google to let users opt out of creepy tracking software on Android devices. Will you donate to fund the investigation and outreach work to make it happen? It takes 2 minutes. Our fight against invasive tracking software has never been easy. After all, tech companies like Meta [Facebook] make tons of money using your data to support their ad business. In fact, since Apple changed its privacy settings last year, Meta platforms (including Facebook and Instagram) are expected to lose a whopping $10 billion in ad revenue this year. Clearly, advertisers are willing to pay a lot to get their hands on our data – which is why it’s so important we protect it. As we set our sights on Google, we know it will take everything we have to win. After all, we’re a non-profit going up against a giant corporation. But we’ve done it before, and we can do it again – and we know that thousands of you are with us. We're fighting to keep our data out of the hands of big tech. A donation from you could fund our investigation and campaigning work to take on Google. Will you take 2 minutes to help? Thousands of us are standing up for consumer privacy online – and against incredible odds, we’re winning. Google says they're putting user privacy first – but their actions show that they're fighting to keep tracking alive for as long as they possibly can. Help pressure Google to stop dragging its feet. Chip in today to fund our campaign, so we can build the momentum we need to hand back power and privacy to consumers all around the world, no matter what device they use. Thank you – for helping to build a better internet for all, free from corporate snooping. Juan Barajas Mozilla | |
