Watching The Royals

Drama at House Sussex!

By now you've probably read about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's surprise announcement, but if you haven't, let us sum it up: the couple is stepping down from some of their senior royal duties, and are moving to North America part time.

On Wednesday, the couple stated they plan to become "financially independent" and will personally select the media outlets to cover their engagements, rather than participate in the U.K.'s royal rota.

Buckingham Palace released their own statement in response, saying, "discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage," and that the details "will take time to work through."

Although there's been a flurry of reports about what went down behind the scenes, details on when the duke and duchess plan to officially break (partially) away from the Royal Family have yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, there's been plenty of activity since Harry and Meghan made their announcement, and we're looking forward to hearing more about their plans for 2020.

Take care, royal watchers! 👑 👑

👑Did You Know?👑

The Duchy of Cornwall is a private estate run by the current Duke of Cornwall, Prince Charles, and was established in 1337 by Edward III to provide independence to his son, Prince Edward.

The revenue from this estate is used to fund public, private, and charitable activities of Charles, as well as his children, Prince William and Prince Harry, and their families.

Once Charles becomes king, the duchy will be passed on to William, and then once William takes the throne, it will go to his son, Prince George.
