The words to describe the current state of the Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette in this month’s Lafayette Power Poll were all too honest: Unacceptable. Unsafe. An embarrassment. Here's the most visceral: An open wound. But when it came to discussing the recents news regarding the Thruway and the I-49 Connector and the claim that it would “etch in stone an economic and racial divide that exists in this city” once its complete, about half of respondents disagreed. And just under half said it should be tossed so the project can keep moving forward.
