In what is fueling up to be an undeniably historic agreement, Israel and Egypt are working together to boost natural gas exports to Europe. This comes as a desperate push by a somewhat fragmented European Union that is looking to replace Russian energy imports. "Today, Egypt and Israel make a commitment to share our natural gas with Europe and to help with the energy crisis," said Israeli Energy Minister Karine Elharrar. By tapping into the gas riches of the eastern Mediterranean, Israel will send natural gas resources from its offshore fields through a pipeline to Egypt, where it will then be liquefied and shipped to Europe. Israel is actively preparing to increase its gas production from its Karish field, where a floating gas rig is already in place, and has helped export 8.8 billion cubic meters of gas over the past year alone. |

The Israeli rabbinical organization, Tzohar, is in talks to provide supervision for kosher food at the World Cup in Qatar in November. Israeli soccer fans will be able to obtain a visa to attend the World Cup using a special ID, following an arrangement finalized by FIFA. While Israeli athletes have been permitted to participate in sporting events in Qatar in the past, this is the first time Israeli citizens would be permitted to attend as spectators. Media reports indicate that Tzohar, along with the US-based Orthodox Union, are in the running to supervise the kosher food stands at the Qatar World Cup and accommodate the needs of Jewish visitors. Fresh falafel right at the start of the Kickoff? Only time will tell. |

While the major historical sites of Jerusalem and beaches in Tel Aviv are popular tourist hotspots, there’s another little-known city that’s vying for attention: Rishon LeZion. As one of the first Jewish settlements in pre-state Israel, dating back to 1882, Rishon LeZion is now the fourth largest city in The Holy Land. This busy coastal city is full of sunshine and surprises. The Agam Museum of Art features transformable sculptures and 3-D paintings designed by famed kinetic artist Yaacov Agam. The 20-acre Superland is an extravagant amusement park with adrenaline-pumping roller coaster rides that promise to thrill and delight. The Israeli Basketball Premier League’s Gan Nahum stadium is home to the popular Maccabi Rishon LeZion team, who are rivals to some of Israel’s best sports clubs. Overlooked, underappreciated, yet still awesome -- make sure to check out Rishon LeZion on your next visit to Israel. |

| | I am so grateful for this rewarding experience. When I hand a young boy or girl a food package, I can see their small eyes light up with joy. At the end of my shift, I will have encountered dozens of people who will touch my heart, make me smile, or give me something positive to reflect on. I feel a genuine sense of contentment and believe I am making the world into a better place by helping the less fortunate. The fact is, my volunteering experience at Feed Israel has been very inspiring and is transforming me into a more wholesome person, simply by doing acts of kindness each day. |
