| | Education doesn’t end once you graduate — life is full of learning opportunities. But for the students who attend the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Utah, it’s worthwhile to head back to the classroom just for fun. The program is for people 50 and over who attend class purely for the joy of learning. There are no tests, no finals and no grades, and the course catalog offers everything from art history to advances in biomedical engineering to Ukrainian egg decorating. Jill Meyer, the director of the program, called the program the University of Utah’s “best-kept secret.” “Everyone is here because they want to be here,” she said. “It’s wonderful. It’s what learning should be.” Read more about what the program is like and why so many people enjoy it. | Krysyan Edler writes: Saturday night in Lehi, Utah, Jake Retzlaff gave probably the most unique interview of his BYU career. Instead of facing a horde of reporters in a post-game press conference, the BYU quarterback was sitting across from a Jewish comedian participating in a Q&A at a Jewish comedy event hosted by the Chabad of Utah County. The audience of more than 100 Jews, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and BYU football fans got to see a looser, almost unfiltered side of Retzlaff, who sounded like a comedian sometimes. Read more about what Retzlaff said about religious hate, the Alamo Bowl and how he sees God’s hand in his journey. The variety of characters and their different experiences allowed for a fascinating and well-balanced narrative that was a joy to read." —OnlineBookClub.org review.
