A tweet that hailed "President Biden's leadership" for the increase in Social Security payments was deleted by the White House on Wednesday. Twitter notified the White House that the increase in Social Security payments was really caused by a 40-year high in inflation, therefore the tweet was deleted.
The tweet from the White House was accompanied by a note from Twitter that said many readers were adding "context" to the White House message that said the increase in Social Security payments was "due to the annual cost of living adjustment, which is based on the inflation rate."
Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, emphasized this point early on Wednesday morning. Twitter only adds "context" remarks to tweets when they receive a high enough rating from other Twitter users.
A White House official explained to Fox News Digital shortly after the tweet was deleted that the decision was made because "the point was incomplete."
In other words, the White House got caught in a lie. |
