'I was not forced out.' New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson met with the media this morning to talk about his retirement at the end of the year. Ferguson's retirement was announced Tuesday. Here's who might be the top contender to replace Ferguson. Later this afternoon, Ferguson's boss, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, will give her annual State of the City address. We’ll be there of course, so please check back with NOLA.com. (And here's an uh, somewhat different, take on it from our friends over at Gambit.) Anger in Bogalusa: The incoming mayor of Bogalusa is urging the city’s police chief to resign following the death of a Black man in police custody last year. Tensions between some residents and the police department boiled over at a raucous meeting of the Bogalusa City Council last night, James Finn reports. Saints' Ingram hurt: The Saints' Mark Ingram suffered a knee injury Monday night that will likely end his season, our Saints coverage team is reporting. The news of his injury caps a bad week for Ingram -- he issued this apology on social media for a play he failed to make against the Buccaneers in a morale-crushing Saints loss Monday night. Culinary giants: Think of New Orleans food families and what names come to mind? Brennan. Chase. Baquet. Fabacher . . . Fa what? Mike Scott writes that no history of New Orleans’ culinary giants would be complete without that important name.
