My bad, folks: First, a correction. In yesterday’s Lunch Line I misidentified Josh Bruno. I called him Joe. My apologies. New Orleans and the NFL Draft: For so many years the NFL held its annual draft in New York City. But like all things NFL, the draft has become a "thing," and in recent years the league has taken the party on the road. Chicago. Philly. Cleveland(!) So how about New Orleans? Well, probably not, columnist Jeff Duncan says, and here’s why. (And here’s lots of other cool Saints draft stuff, compliments of our Saints coverage team.) Bike lane blues: There was an interesting political skirmish among Jefferson Parish Council members recently. The impetus? The bike lanes on Severn and Whitney avenues, Blake Paterson reports. Also, we're getting ready to launch a newsletter focused exclusively on Jefferson Parish. Interested? Here's where you can sign up: nola.com/jefferson Gone gator: You might have heard about the big ol’ gator sunning its leather on the banks of Bayou St. John. Maybe you even saw it. Well, the gator is gone now, reports our Doug MacCash, who has been assured the critter was taken out to the country. (And no, not the “country” you described to your young kids when the family dog went to his greater reward...) Fixing the river: An ever-widening break in the bank along the Mississippi River way south of New Orleans is getting some Corps of Engineers attention. The remedy for Neptune Pass: 60,000 tons of stone. Mike Smith tells us why. Thanks for reading Lunch Line. If you're not a NOLA.com subscriber, check out this great deal. Bob |
