You know James Taylor’s famous song “Carolina In My Mind,” in which he sings “I’m goin’ to Carolina in my mind”? Well, in my mind, I’m going anywhere but my home.
I’m mentally planning trips all over the place, 99% of which I will never take. It’s giving me a sense of odd hope and purpose I haven’t felt in… a year. It’s unsettling, for sure, to feel that someday soon I’ll be able to take a worry(ish)-free vacation.
I’m certainly not alone. As this fun piece by senior reporter Caroline Bologna notes, “revenge travel,” i.e. going anywhere and everywhere, will be all the rage in the coming years as people escape to places they’ve always wanted to go, or resume canceled trips.
I say, happy trip planning and may we all be safe and healthy when we see each other on the road. |
