| | Why Every Home Should Be a Thermal Battery | We have been saying it for years: our homes and all our buildings should be designed for resilience. Texas in particular is a magnet for hurricanes, floods, and now these winter storms. Losing electricity for a couple of days shouldn't be a crisis. I wrote after a previous polar vortex: "Every building should have a proven level of insulation, air tightness, and window quality so that people are comfortable in all kinds of weather, even when the power goes out. This is because our houses have become lifeboats, and leaks may well be fatal." | |
