GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.: Grand Rapids’s 2023 Donut & Beer Festival is taking place May 6 at LMCU Ballpark. Presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, guests can expect to sample a slew of sweet treats, beers, and ciders. The fest is open to guests of all ages, and tickets are available on the Donut & Beer Festival’s website starting at $34 for general admission without alcohol. VIP tickets are running for $58 and allow guests early access to the fest along with 10 beer sampling and 10 donut sampling tokens. Attendees can also expect live music and games, plus branded merchandise on-site available for purchase. NASHVILLE: Apartment-style accommodations leader Locale Hospitality has announced the April 2023 opening of The Eighteen by Locale. The boutique hotel is located in Nashville’s Five Points neighborhood—on Mcferrin Avenue—and was designed by local design firm Powell. It's home to 11 short-term rental units, two penthouses, a ground-floor commercial space, and a rooftop deck. Guests staying at The Eighteen will have access to a bedroom and living room, full kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer, keyless check-in, and 24-hour concierge services. NEW YORK: Marram—a 96-key, barefoot, oceanfront boutique hotel in Montauk, N.Y.—opened for the 2023 season on April 14. Designed to be a place for patrons to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Marram is offering retreats that are perfect for team-building activities. Take its new spring 2023 retreat, Wellness Weekends, for example, where groups will experience a highly curated Hampton’s experience featuring talent across the wellness, nutrition, and fitness spaces. Pen, Paper, and Ocean: A Journaling Retreat is another new offering, where AllSwell Creative founder Laura Rubin will guide participants through writing-based activities designed to increase creativity while decreasing anxiety. Reservations are available through Marram’s website. BOSCO, a Latin-American craft cocktail bar in Greenwich Village, is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with food courtesy of award-winning chef Dominick Lee and Kevin Doherty—the duo behind neighborhood favorite Tara Rose, and the soon-to-open Alligator Pear. In a nod to the “cinco” in Cinco de Mayo, five themed offerings will be up for grabs—all for $5—including guacamole, tacos, and quesadillas. Of course, margaritas, Monopolio beer, and palamos will be on offer. VENTURA, CALIF.: The California Strawberry Festival is taking place this year May 20-21 at a new location: the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Guests can expect strawberry-centered activities, foods, and more, including savory bites and drinks from more than 40 on-site vendors, live entertainment, and 100-plus arts and crafts booths. There will be a build-your-own strawberry shortcake station, a berry contest, and free shuttle service, just to name a few highlights. Tickets are available on the festival’s website, starting at $8 for children aged 5-12, and $15 for adults.
