I started my job as Life Editor at The Forward while thinking a lot about the next generation. Quite literally.
It was 2017, and I was pregnant, and as I worked on my first stories, all I could think about was: What world am I bringing my daughter into? What am I doing to make this world a better place, through my journalism?
As a writer and mother, I am consumed by the question of how to improve our society. Whether it's about treating the ills inside the Jewish community, or facing the rising hatreds that we face today, or whether it's deep reporting or incisive commentary that lift a mirror to our challenges: History has shown us that the health of society is determined by the robustness of its free press and civil discourse.
With growing anxieties around the future of the American Jewish community, it has perhaps never been more important to support independent Jewish journalism.
