Collecting!!
..Today’s Newsletter was going to be a tribute to one of the most famous movie stars all of time.
.
But, then I picked up a magazine and started to read an article about Why most people collect. The story was about an auction of the largest “Munsters” collection in existence, amassed by “Munsters” biggest fan, Kevin Burns. .
You see Kevin was a longtime customer of mine and bought countless rare vintage treasures from me over the years. I was enjoying reading the article so much, until the author dropped a 100lb sack on top of my head, ending with “Kevin Burns died last year”.

Kevin was not only an avid collector of 1960s memorabilia, but he was a successful Hollywood producer. His love for the Munsters and other 1960s TV Shows like “Lost in Space” was driven by a nostalgic trip back to his childhood.

Now, that’s no surprise to me, as I often get lost in my childhood when I pull out my collection of classic TV and Movie treasures or watch an episode of the “Munsters”, “Land of the Giants” or “Lost in Space”.
.
But, it was what Kevin said in an interview of Why he had such a burning desire in collecting. His response: “Its important to get back to being a child every once in a while”. Simple but very profound.
.
Imagine wanting to return to a time and place when you were ten years old and your biggest responsibility was learning how to catch a baseball, not fight with your sister, who you could make friends with, or what you wanted for Christmas or your birthday. You most likely had no debilitating health issues, no out of control debt to lose sleep over, no IRS audits, venomous politics, someone trying to sue you or how you were going to pay for your children’s college and oblivious and immune to the toxic garbage that adults digest from the media today. You can travel to Any place you want !

Every time a close customer passes away, its like I lost a member of the family. And I never forget them. Thank you for the memories Ken. And a belated RIP my friend !
.
That reminds me, I have to end here so I can go back to being a child for an hour or so. And enjoy every minute I have left.
