WHO at COP27

As the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change COP27 is about to open in Sharm-El-Sheikh, the World Health Organization considers that health can make a strong, positive contribution to progress on the key issues under discussion; mitigation, adaptation, finance and collaboration. WHO and partners will lead the strongest ever health presence at a UNFCCC COP, representing over 45 million health workers from around the world who are calling for stronger climate action, and presenting evidence and guidance on the urgency of addressing the climate crisis to protect health, as well as the large, local and rapid health gains that would result from climate action.

Continental Webinar to Stop Obesity in Africa

At the African Union level, Africa Regional Nutrition Strategy (2016-2025) recognizes that almost all AU Member States are experiencing not just undernutrition, but also overweight, obesity and associated non-communicable diseases. In efforts to support the strategic objective #1 of the AU food and nutrition strategy, “AUC defines standards, norms, policies and frameworks for AU Member State adoption and ratification”, implementation of the globally agreed acceleration plan to Stop Obesity is timely for the continent.

WHO releases Global Vaccine Market report

This year's WHO Global Vaccine Market report provides a comprehensive overview of global market dynamics in 2021 and analyses their evolution since 2019, based on data primarily provided by countries.

The report highlights disparities in distribution, pricing and manufacturing capacity, calling on governments, industry, international institutions and partners to take ambitious action to improve equitable access, to reach the Immunization Agenda 2030 goals and better prepare and respond to future pandemics.
