Rigby is a small town, with about 3,000 people. We've lived here for about 20 years, but Merri Ann was raised here. We know a lot of people. These are good people, friends and neighbors. Sometimes we talk bread. Hal and Sharyn are passionate bakers. Hal loves San Francisco Sourdough with its sharp distinctive bite. Sharyn likes a smoother, mellower bread like our Italian Country Bread, maybe our mildest bread, more of a country loaf than a sourdough. French Miche is a mild bread, one of my favorite breads. But there are other compromises too. Alaska Sourdough is a middle-of-the-road bread, somewhere near Saint Croix Sourdough or New England Rustic. Merri Ann made me a grilled cheese and egg sandwich with bacon on a heartyOld World Sourdough, stronger than San Francisco, maybe our most flavorful bread and with whole grains. She fried it in a pool of butter, and it came out rich and crunchy. | | |
