Iâve received many questions about why I offer separate and exclusive content on LinkedIn so I thought I would share a few of them with you:
Why LinkedIn?
Three Reasons:
Visibility: Email is great but I can only get about 33%-50% of the people I meet to open an email. While those rates are higher than average, many more people open my LinkedIn Newsletter. In addition, I also have higher visibility with a more diverse audience on LinkedIn as the people who subscribe will see the headline and preview text in their feed.Â
Credibility: People who want to work with me will check me out on LinkedIn. All my newsletters are aggregated there. They are exposed to a âbody of workâ immediately and I become an expert in their eyes.
Differentiation: I write well. It sets me apart from other people who do what I do.
Why Exclusive Content on LinkedIn?
I publish unique content - an article I do not repurpose - on LinkedIn because I want you, my client and referral source, to cross over and subscribe there too. By publishing unique content there and here, you get the best I have to offer in two places.
Does it Work?
This is tough to answer. Iâve been doing it for six weeks and I have 1,000+ subscribers. For comparative purposes, when I started my weekly email newsletter in 2008, it took me one year to attract 1,000 subscribers. That said, the proof will be in the engagement and dollars I receive as a result.
