BY ANNETTE SISCO | STAFF WRITER Happy Thursday, New Orleans food fans! This week we have news from a couple of big names, as Emeril's reopens and the world-renowned sushi chef Nobu announces plans to locate here. A beloved old-school diner closes for good, and a local favorite changes its concept to adapt to tough times. And there's more. Read on... 1. Emeril's is back. After being shuttered through the pandemic, Emeril's Restaurant will reopen Tuesday. Emeril Lagasse and his chefs have used the downtime to come up with some changes to celebrate a delayed 30th anniversary. To start, there's dessert! Ian McNulty has the sweet scoop. 2. Nobu is coming. Sushi master Nobu Matsuhisa and his partners, including actor Robert De Niro, are developing a new restaurant and hotel in the forthcoming Caesars New Orleans casino, now Harrah's. It's still a ways off, but check the plans here. 3. Wait! There's more. It's the end of the line for the old-school Trolley Stop Cafe; ramen master Kin is launching a totally new concept; Mid-City bistro Zasu reopens for the first time since the pandemic after a revamp; and River Parishes andouille makers get smoking again after Ida. 4. Gumbo weather! There's a hint of fall in the air as temperatures plunge into the 70s. You know what that means. It's time to make gumbo! We've rounded up five great recipes here. 5. Treating mom right. A member of our Where NOLA Eats Facebook community asked for suggestions for her weekly dining dates with her mother. Did we have ideas! So, so many ideas! Chime in with yours here. That's it for the food newsletter, but in New Orleans the food news never stops. For more, visit us at NOLA.com. Have a great weekend, and thanks for reading! --AS P.S.
