Friends,I want to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. Im feeling extremely blessed this birthday, and this is why.Flyboy was in Dallas for his yearly pilot training. He left on the 10th for four days. He called to say goodnight, I have no memory of that or his morning call. He left training to fly home because he knew something was not right. He called my neighbors, they came over. (No memory of it). I laid down on the sofa. Flyboy got home and called the ambulance because I was rambling... It was March 11th. I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. I was unresponsive and spent the next 3 days in ICU in a state of Histotoxic Hypoxia due to Carbon dioxide poisoning. My Hemoglobin was low, and had to have a blood transfusion. For 3 days I didnt move. Flyboy said I didnt flinch when poked with needles, when blood was drawn, blood gasses taken, every finger poked with needles, and the blood transfusion I also had to have. The discussion going on according to Flyboy was whether to intubate me. Thank God they didnt. I have no memory of going to the hospital, being in ICU, or getting moved to a room. When I finally woke up on the 4th day, I couldnt walk. I spent 10 days in the hospital with no memory and still have no memory of the night before going to the hospital or the following 4 days. I spent 10 days in the hospital, unable to walk or get out of bed. I spent hours on a bi-pap machine, which was a horrible experience for me, but I had to do it, it was keeping me alive. | ||
| Im sorry this is so long, I have kept quiet about my poor health and the agony it has caused my loved ones. This was caused by one thing...Smoking. If you never smoked, it makes no sense to you. Every one of us has a battle with a demon at one time or another. Successes and failures are part of any addiction. I have been smoke-free for 22 days and have no desire to have one. I know I will die if I smoke even one cigarette. Cigarettes took enough from me. My dear sweet mother is dying. Shes in Hospice at home and I havent been able to go see my mama. Try living with that! Ive been working hard to get healthy. I am down to 93 pounds and the hospital discharge papers actually said... EAT, EAT, EAT! I have a physical therapist who comes over and "beats me up" twice a week. Im feeling fantastic and stronger every day. The day I got home I couldnt do 100 steps in my house. Today, my fitbit registered 2400 steps! I know better than to tell any smoker to quit. It HAS to come from the smoker. I shared this because I withdrew from friends and family because I was so sick for the past 3 years and depressed because I smoked, and smoked because I was depressed.
