Hi John!

Do you know when you have plans all laid out and then all of a sudden your health happens? Ya. Our story here is Lisa has kidney stones. We’ve known this for years but they weren’t moving. Until this week. She’s scheduled Monday for surgery.

So she had to stop. And so did I. But that’s okay. We’re learning as we get older that things like this happen, that we should take it in stride, and it’s okay to put things on the back burner and let them simmer for a while.

Cartoon Of The Week

I posted this cartoon, “What Really Happens During the Sermon”, and I love the responses.

In the post I said something like… it’s wise to notice what is actually happening around us and inside of us.

Let’s be honest about our feelings and our thoughts. Not just the people, but pastors too! It’s okay to be human.

Many people appreciated the permission! It’s better to love what actually IS rather than what we WISH!

Post Of The Week

I posted “Beloved Arise” because of the story behind it.

I received a message from Ashley about this drawing:

"Your cartoon for Beloved Arise in December literally changed the trajectory of our lives. My 13 year old Alex was in the hospital after a suicide attempt when I saw your post. I'm not sure my youngest kiddo would be alive today if you hadn't led us to Beloved Arise. Thanks for the work you do! It matters!"

And this folks is why I do what I do.

It was a commissioned piece for an organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth in churches called “Beloved Arise!” Important work!

Love it.

PAINTING OF THE WEEK

I painted this last week. I call it “I Am My Own Personal Space”.

It measures approximately 8"x8" with a white border for matting and framing.

Wherever you go, there you are. And the peace you carry within you can remain wherever you find yourself. Being out in nature reminds you of how this can be done. Just be. Here. Now. Like that tree. The sky. Those birds. The water. You. Your personal space is always with you.

I read books about business, success, money, marketing, sales… all that stuff I used to find offensive… because, well, I have to. NakedPastor is, I must admit, a brand, and I sell stuff.

Of ALL the books I read about it, they ALL say the same thing: you have to know what you want! This to me was my greatest barrier. Because I was never allowed to want anything. I could only want what God wanted. I’ve learned a lot though. Now I know what I want. And I’m learning how to receive it.

Can I say I love you?

I must admit I love interacting with everyone online. I’m having a blast. Sure, I get critics. But the love of all the friends I’m making around the world overpowers by a long shot all the naysayers.
