The Lunch Line: When will my power be restored? And where will I live?

By Bob Warren

Shutting down. The state has ordered seven nursing homes to shut down after they packed more than 800 residents into a warehouse in Tangipahoa Parish to ride out Hurricane Ida, a move state officials have blasted. But a look at the evacuation plans for those homes shows that it was always the plan to move the patients to the warehouse, and that the state signed off on it.

Who's got power? Here’s the latest we have today on the power outages across our region.

  • Entergy  held a news conference Sunday morning.
  • Cleco on the north shore is reporting nearly 80% restored in St. Tammany.

'It's gone.' Hurricane Ida’s destruction has created a huge need for temporary housing. Hotels are scarce, money is tight. In hard-hit LaPlace, a vehicle has become home for one family, Matt Sledge reports.

'Celebration of his life.' When a caravan of volunteers and supplies left Slidell late last week for St. Charles Parish, it was missing one well-known team member: Timothy Satterlee Sr., who authorities believe was killed by an alligator, Marie Fazio reports.

Thanks for taking a break with the Lunch Line today. Stay safe.
