View as a webpage 'How could this have happened?' In November 2019, a prescribed burn in the wilderness of WA's South West set a peat swamp alight. These peat swamps are ecologically significant, and home to many rare species of plants and animals. But they're also extremely sensitive to fire, especially as they start to dry due to climate change. On this week's Off Track, take a closer look at the WA government's policy of prescribed burning and how it's affecting the precious ecosystems of this corner of Australia. This fortnight RN has also had the privilege of hosting (at least, virtually) our ABC TOP 5 scholars — a group of early-career researchers from humanities faculties across Australia.
