| Lawyer Meltdown Newsletter | Happy Summer! Ok, technically it isn't summer yet, but it is finally starting to feel like it after a chilly and rainy spring. Summer is often a time to kick back and relax a bit, but it can also be a time for new adventures and experiences. I encourage my clients to take time for themselves and their families and to rest and recharge, but I'd also like to challenge all of you to take on something new this summer. In that spirit, I recently started something new myself by joining Videosocials.net - essentially a group effort in creating consistent video for your practice. These aren't professionally done videos with long complicated scripts - instead they're short videos providing valuable nuggets (or at least I hope they're valuable - you can see for yourself below) of information for your audience done in a comfortable, welcoming environment with like-minded professionals. Earlier this year, I did a welcome video for my website, but I wanted to do more with this medium. Despite having many years of experience speaking, video still makes me nervous and uncomfortable - it's easier talking to a room full of people than it is talking to the camera- but this group setting makes it a bit easier. Check out my videos below and let me know what you think - and then reach out to me and let me know what new thing you're taking on or new way you're working on your practice this summer. In addition to these videos, I've been a guest on a couple of podcasts recently - so instead of articles this month, I'm giving you podcasts and video! I'm working on some blog posts now, so next month I should have some written material - and hopefully more video, too! What do you think of my videos? What new actions will you take or improvements will you make this summer? Let me know! Email me at [email protected] I want to make sure that I am delivering the most relevant content to you, so if you haven't already, please let me know - What is your biggest challenge right now? Billing and Fees Marketing and Business Development Time Management and Productivity Dealing with clients If you've got a challenge that isn't listed here, of if you want my help with any of the above, please send me a message with your challenge. | | LinkedIn Headline Tips | | My first Videosocials video covered tips for improving your your LinkedIn Headline. After you watch the video, make sure you pick up my LinkedIn Headline Worksheet. Watch the video | Building Your LinkedIn Network | | LinkedIn is a professional networking platform. That means that the same rules of engagement for in-person networking also apply to LinkedIn. This short video gives you some tips about how to network effectively on LinkedIn. Watch the video | Don't Let Email Become a Distraction | | In this video, I talk about how easy it is to let email distract us from our priorities, and how to prevent it. Watch the video | Recent Podcasts on Productivity | | I recently had the pleasure of appearing on two separate podcasts talking about productivity. First, I was a guest on the Lawyerist podcast, Episode #222 on "Doing Even More with Less Time." Find that podcast episode here. This was a follow up to an episode we recorded several years ago - coincidentally, that podcast was Episode #22 - you can find that one here. I was also invited to be a guest on the State Bar of Michigan's On Balance podcast on the Legal Talk Network where, once again, we talked productivity and time management. Listen to the On Balance Podcast | Want to Improve Your Marketing? | | If you want to dial up your marketing, the first step is to get exceptionally clear about your target audience (both clients and referral sources). One way to do that is by completing my Ideal Client Profile workbook. This workbook takes you step by step through the process of identifying and targeting your ideal clients. It's the same process I use with my consulting clients. | Learn More |
