with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! We hope you had a great weekend. There was a lot of big news yesterday, so let's get you all caught up.

A rampage in South Baton Rouge

In a series of attacks Sunday morning in the Wimbledon Estates neighborhood, the Highland Marketplace shopping center parking lot, and the CVS at Bluebonnet and Jefferson, a 28-year-old man killed one person and wounded four others, police said. It started when the man stabbed his grandmother to death and wounded his mother, they said.

Our breaking news team was all over it. This story has everything we know about the suspect, the violence he's accused of committing, and how he was captured.

Is the real estate market cooling down?

The real estate market in the Baton Rouge area has been scorching hot, with huge demand and soaring home prices. But some realtors see signs that things may be about to cool down.

In this story, our business team looks at the pace of homebuying and what could be coming next.

A shot at getting out of prison

Louisiana's rules for parole have gotten very complicated over the past few decades, which has led to very different rules for which inmates can apply even if they committed the same crime.

A new law that recently took effect took a step towards simplifying that system, and it means some 3,000 inmates could be newly eligible for parole. And district attorneys and police leaders seem to be okay with it.

This story explains what's changing and what it means for the state's criminal justice system.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
