How Gardens Create Community

Grades of Green is proud to celebrate our growing partnership with Armadillo, a purpose-driven company rooted in ethical craftsmanship and environmental responsibility. As the first Australian and American rug maker to achieve B Corp status, Armadillo’s commitment to creating a better world aligns beautifully with our mission to empower students to care for the planet.

Last week, we joined forces at Bennett Kew Elementary for a special Garden Prep Day ahead of tomorrow’s much-anticipated Planting Event. Armadillo’s incredible team volunteered their time and talent to help us build and arrange beautiful new garden boxes—laying the groundwork (literally!) for a vibrant school garden that students will plant and care for.

With hands in the soil and hearts in the mission, this partnership is proof that when sustainability meets community, real change takes root. Thank you Armadillo for sharing your time with us to make a positive change for Bennett Kew Elementary! We can’t wait to see the students bring their new garden to life tomorrow!

Honoring Heritage and Powering Change

This AAPI Heritage Month, we're highlighting our partners at 1587 Sneakers! Since January, they have supported communities affected by the Palisades and Eaton Fires and have had a key role in uplifting the next generation of environmental leaders in the South Bay.

1587 Sneakers raised critical funds and awareness, sparking hope in neighborhoods where rebuilding is just beginning. Thanks to community-powered efforts like this, progress is underway: permits are being issued, and there's a growing movement to rebuild homes with all-electric appliances for a greener, safer future.

A huge thank-you to 1587 Sneakers for providing our student Eco-Leaders with awesome t-shirts to build community and for always leading with purpose.

Our Eco-Lesson of the Month
Check out our Community / Beach Cleanup Eco-Toolkit: an engaging, NGSS-aligned activity from our LAUNCH program, designed to empower students and teachers to take real climate action. As summer approaches and more people flock to the coast, this lesson underscores the urgent need to reduce waste, protect marine life, and maintain clean beaches—not only for the environment but for the 28 million people working in coastal regions and the tourism that thrives there.
Our donors and partners make it possible for schools to access impactful resources at no cost. Support Grades of Green with a donation and help us continue meaningful work in communities around the world.
