You also might be in a parasocial relationship, though. As I wrote this week, parasocial relationships are one-sided psychological relationships where one person extends emotional energy or interest in another person — usually a celeb or a fictional character — even though they have no connection to them IRL. Think: Swifties, Bennifer fans and even Trumpers.
Anyway, I’m just scratching the surface here — the phenomenon is fascinating stuff. (And with the weekend coming up, it’s perfect dinner-party conversation fodder.)
