Dear Supporter,

It's a big month for our planet. Endangered Species Day and International Day of Biodiversity are both taking place this month! Read on to discover more about our incredible wildlife and nature.

Endangered Species Day: 18 May

What do a Waved Albatross, Amur Leopard and Humpback Whale have in common? Unfortunately, they're all listed as endangered.

Amur leopards are the rarest big cats in the world. They face many serious threats, which include habitat loss and illegal poaching. Their gorgeous pelts are in high demand and their bones are used in traditional Chinese medicine, making them popular poaching targets. Habitat loss also forces them to eat livestock, which leads to human-wildlife conflict.
Humpback Whales
Whale watching boats can stress or injure whales when they collide, and human activities like fisheries can force whales out of their territory. When whales get tangled in nets, it prevents them from surfacing for air, causing them to drown.

Waved Albatrosses
Threatened by longline fishing, Waved Albatrosses often end up swallowing hooks with bait and are dragged underwater, where they drown. Oil slicks also mat their feathers and when they preen, they ingest the oil.

If there's one thing we must constantly remind ourselves of, it's that everything on this planet is connected. We depend on nature for so much - from the oxygen we need to survive, to little things in our daily lives.

For example, did you know that your bottle cork comes from cork oak trees? These trees also provide homes to wildlife species such as the endangered Iberian lynx!
The future of nature is our future too. #Connect2Earth with us and together, let's safeguard the future of wildlife and nature.

Did you know less than 1% of freshwater is available for us to use? And this invaluable resource is needed to sustain life on Earth💧Safeguarding nature means securing precious resources such as freshwater - which we need to survive.
