Your Monday evening update from the Lancashire Post
View email online | | | | | Feb 14, 2022 | | | | | | Good evening, Most of us aren’t getting out as much as we used to these days. It’s the legacy of two years of a pandemic, including lockdowns, variants and fear of getting or passing this virus to vulnerable loved ones. So, you may not have noticed that amongst the steadily rising prices we are facing for everything from a loaf of bread to a shower, the price of fuel for our cars is now eye-wateringly high. This has been caused by a number of factors, from the price of oil to twitchy retailers wanting to pass on the cost as quickly as possible. But believe me, you’ll need a packed wallet if you are taking your car for a day out to a petrol station. And apparently, the news may get worse if there is any kind of invasion of Ukraine by Russia....although in those circumstances, the cost of fuel would probably be the least of our worries. But perhaps it is not all bad. According to the AA, the rocketing cost of petrol and diesel has encouraged almost half of us to use our cars less. So perhaps what’s not so good for our bank balances, might actually be helping the planet.
